Introduction

SafeRing/SafePlus gas-insulated ring enclosures and compact switchgear include traditional SF6 gas insulation and environmentally friendly dry air insulation, which offer the advantages of high reliability, high safety, compact structure, and maintenance-free design. SafeRing is suitable for ring units in secondary distribution networks and is available in a variety of fixed configurations to meet the needs of most distribution networks. SafePlus is a metal-enclosed compact switchgear for use in distribution networks from 6 kV to 40.5 kV. The SafePlus switchgear is flexibly expandable and can be combined in a fully modular or semi-modular way. Both SafeRing and SafePlus belong to the same product family and have the same user interface. The Safe Digital intelligent solution is based on ABB's advanced Safe switchgear as the platform, integrating a variety of digital applications to form a complete solution that accurately perceives the status of ring network cabinets. Using ABB ABILITY cloud technology, it provides equipment asset health management and operation and maintenance suggestions to ensure power supply safety, improve operation continuity and reliability, extend maintenance cycles, and reduce maintenance costs.

The switchgear portfolio is constantly under development to adjust to new market requirements and customers' needs.

SafeRing is available in standard configurations based on a high-volume production. These standardized RMUs, which are the most required configurations within a distribution network, can be extendable upon request.

SafePlus is the switchgear version of SafeRing with flexibility, modularity and higher ratings.

Structure

The SafePlus system offers a choice of either a switch-fuse combination or a circuit-breaker with relay for protection of the transformer.

SafePlus accommodates a wide selection of protection relays for most applications.

SafePlus can also be supplied with remote control and monitoring equipment.
